Questions
Where is BLANC BLANC BLANC and how do I get there from Paris?
BLANC BLANC BLANC is one of France’s best-kept secrets: a small hidden gem in the heart of western Mayenne, still unspoiled and not yet widely known. It lies near Laval. From Paris, take the high-speed train (TGV) to Laval in about one hour ten, then a taxi of about ten minutes. We can help you book it. No car is needed.
Is BLANC BLANC BLANC a creative retreat venue or a holiday house for groups?
First a creative retreat venue: a group gathers around a maker and uses the workshop to practise. And if you would rather just come and stay, the house is also yours as a holiday house, with no programme.
How many people can stay?
Up to 36 guests.
Is the house accessible to guests with reduced mobility?
Yes. One bedroom is on the ground floor, with no steps, for guests with reduced mobility. Tell us your needs when you enquire and we will prepare the stay with you.
Do you welcome individual guests, or only groups?
We host groups only, for stays with overnight accommodation, from a weekend to several days or more.
Can we visit for the day?
No. We only host overnight stays.
Do I need experience to try natural dyeing?
No. Dyeing with onion skins, walnuts, flowers and leaves needs no previous experience. A little indigo is also part of the workshop.
Do you run the workshops yourselves?
We have a network of local craftspeople who can lead workshops for your group. We also welcome makers and teachers who come with their own group and want to use the workshop.
What do we eat during a stay?
Our market garden on site grows all the vegetables. The house can be rented without a chef, so your group is free to cook for itself. As an option, a chef takes care of all the catering. The choice is yours.
Can you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes. Please tell us about dietary needs before your stay so we can confirm the menus. We adapt without difficulty.
How do I book, and what are the payment terms?
Send us an enquiry with your group size and dates, and we come back with a proposal. To confirm, we ask for a 50% deposit. It is refundable until one month before the day of departure.
What is the best season to come?
Every season has its strengths, its limits and its own interest. The plants change through the year, in the market garden, in the fields and in the dye pot, and so does the light on the house. Tell us what your group would like to do and we will suggest the best time.
What is there to see nearby?
Sainte-Suzanne, one of France’s most beautiful villages, is 20 minutes by car. The Caves of Saulges are 25 minutes away, and Laval and La Cité du Lait are 10 minutes. Mont-Saint-Michel is about 1h30 from Laval.
